We are currently operating Adventure Wanaka predominantly as a boarding house, which is a great medium-term option for people wanting to temporarily staying in Wanaka to work & play through the Summer or Winter. At the moment, the hostel is not operating in a traditional sense, in that we are currently offering minimal reception service and virtually no housekeeping or cleaning services. As a condition of stay, it is the responsibility of our guests to ensure that their communal spaces, bunk areas, bathrooms and kitchen are kept clean and in a usable condition for all other guests.
At this time, Adventure Wanaka is not equipped for short-term leisure stays, and the minimum length of stay is 4 weeks. With Reception is currently
unmanned, any assistance can be provided by phone from our hostel’s over in Queenstown.
We are currently renovating the Adventure Wanaka site, and bringing it up to the standards of our two Queenstown hostels. As such there will be a small construction presence throughout your stay. These works are confined to the adjacent ‘house’ building and will be mainly indoors, which should limit noise and disruption to our long-stay guests. The building where our guests reside will not see any retrofit works until early next year, at which time we will only be working on the kitchen and living room spaces.
Alot of aspects of Adventure Wanaka Hostel are therefore brand new, and as such we do expect a few facilities-based issues to crop up from time to time. If our guests do experience any issues or have concerns with any of the facilities then AW Management are available 9-5 Monday to Friday. If there are any urgent enquiries or emergencies during weekends then our team members will pass anything urgent to us.

Rooms and Beds
All of our options are in are 6-bed ensuited shared rooms. Whereby you will be sharing the space with several other guests. These rooms
and adjoining bathrooms have been completely refurbished this year. We have no private rooms available at AW.
We feel that the level of service is reflected in the price charged, and for $215.00 per week, we offer far superior comfort than that at any alternative short-medium length accommodation providers in Wanaka.
All beds feature pod-style bunks – these are bespoke, hand-made beds the feature privacy curtains, reading lights and USB & power charging outlets. The beds are all made up with freshly laundered linen and ready to hop straight into. Towels are also included as standard. Every room also has an air conditioning/heat pump unit and superfast wifi is accessible in all areas.
The ensuite bathroom within each room has also been completely renovated with locally sourced tile, a toilet and shower. This bathroom is accessible from inside the room (not from outside).
There are two buildings on the Adventure Wanaka site, with one housing all of our current guests, this is on the Helwick St side of the site. The building has two storeys, the top floor is accessible by means of staircase.
Shared Living spaces
The communal spaces at Adventure Wanaka include a lounge, kitchen and spacious courtyard garden area. The kitchen and lounge are accessible by PIN entry code for additional security. As Adventure Wanaka is currently operating as a boarding- house our guests agree, as a condition of stay, to keep their communal spaces clean, tidy and ready for other guests to use.
The kitchen area has all the usual amenties that you’d have at home – such as ovens, toasters, blenders, pans, cooking and baking equipment, crockery and cutlery. You should be able to whip up a storm here.
Our living room has several couches and spaces from which you may wish to work remotely. As well as featuring a heat pump and A/C unit, and a wide-screen television.
Guests of Adventure Wanaka also have access to free laundry facilities
We allow guests to responsibly consume their own alcohol purchased from off-site. Though, any guests overdoing it will see themselves checking out. Adventure Wanaka is not a party zone.
Location, location, location!
Adventure Wanaka is fantastically located, located on the corner of Helwick and Brownston Streets, right on the edge of town and just a 2 minute walk to the lake. We’re also less than a minute into town & 2 minutes from the New World supermarket.
In regards to parking, we do not currently have parking on-site, however there is ample street parking on Helwick St, right by the hostel. The limited parking spaces on-site are reserved for trademen and contractors that are assisting us with the renovation works.
We currently do not accept persons or bookings from persons that aim to park their campervan on-site and make use of the facilities. All guests must be long-term occupants of the hostel.
To make a booking
Adventure Wanaka is currently unstaffed, all check-in’s are provided with self-check-in instructions. We will transmit these instructions on your chosen date of arrival.
Before we proceed with check-in’s, Adventure Wanaka require the first, and last week of stay to be paid before arrival. Before we transmit any check-in details a balance of $430.00 ($215 x two weeks) is due before the date of arrival.
The next payment of $215.00 is due 7 days after your date of arrival, and on the same day each week from that point. Failure to pay on time may see additional charges incurred and a warning from Management. Failure to pay on time a second time will see us end the stay agreement.
Once we have received payment, we also require all guests to sign a small agreement, in which you’ll agree to follow our house rules such as keeping your space, and communal areas clean.
