Our Hostels are staffed by teams of dedicated, live-in Team Members. These heroes of hospitality are responsible for all aspects of the daily running of our hostels – warm welcomes and fielding questions from our Reception desk, all the daily housekeeping and cleaning needs to keep things looking immaculate, and also hosting great times and good vibes at our nightly in-house Events & Activities.
Our philosophy at Adventure Hostels is to look after our guests, invest in our staff and provide guests and our teams with as much as possible (for free). We’re all about good times at Adventure Hostels, and so you’ll be helping run activities with our guests, giving our guests top-notch advice and even a helping hand with their luggage when they need it.
We pay attention to details. Our team members will closely follow well-developed procedures and systems, complete task checklists and ensure that each and every interaction you have with our guests is about maximising their experience at our hostels. Our Team Member spots are highly sought-after roles, so we prefer our Team Members to stay with us for at least a full summer or winter season – which lasts around six months.

- You’ll also hold the right to work within New Zealand and will likely have previous working experience within hostels, hotels or hospo.
- You’re willing to commit to at least a full season or longer – at least 4 months or more, but ideally longer.

Team Member full-time at URBANZ
- All-rounder position with Reception and Housekeeping duties.
- Guaranteed 20 hours per week, dependent on high/low season.
- Live-in only role, with discounted staff accommodation at $250 per week.
- Night on-call supervision is required 1 or 2 times per week. Holding a duty phone and answering in emergency situations such as guests being locked out of their rooms.
- 3-month minimum commitment period is required.
Maintenance & Housekeeping Volunteer
Available with immediate start, this is a ‘work for accommodation’ role
- Role will include some general Housekeeping such as changing bed linens, cleaning bathrooms and our communal kitchen, as well as maintenance work – painting rooms, walls and doors.
- No ‘handy-man’ experience needed, but it is always welcome.
- 13 hours of work per week, spread over two or three working days each week.
- Live-in role, with accommodation costs covered from the 13 hours of work.
- Reimbursed with a week-long stay in a four-bed dormitory.
- Regular working hours between 9-4pm
- Night on-call supervision may be required 1 or 2 times per week. Holding a duty phone and answering in emergency situations such as guests being locked out of their rooms. This is reimbursed at an agreed upon rate.
Contract Videographer
We are seeking an individual with experience in videography, photography, and/or content creation to assist us in producing an updated property video for Urbanz
The video will showcase our property, facilities, atmosphere and guest experience, with the aim of creating engaging content similar to the property videos featured on our Adventure Hostels YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/@AdventureHostelsNZ
In exchange for your work, accommodation will be provided at one of our properties in lieu of financial payment.

Ski Technician On-Call / Part time
Starting date: ASAP | ONE role available
- Ski-tech lives on site, at Adventure Q2 in 8-bed room.
- 7 hours work for accommodation role, available 1 hour per day
- Either 5-6pm or 6-7pm daily
- Will pair clients up with correct gear – boards, skis and boots only.
- No cash handling or computer knowledge required.
REQUIREMENTS
- MUST have experience with boards and ski fittings, bindings.
- No training will be provided.
- Commitment to stay with us throughout the season
- Good verbal English will be required.
- Can keep our stores organised and tidy.
Team Member Volunteer, Live-in Role
Available from early June
- All-rounder position with Reception and Housekeeping duties.
- 30-36 hours per week expected, until end of season in October
- Static/fixed roster. No change week to week.
- Live-in only role with discounted staff accommodation at $265 per week.
- 3-month minimum commitment period is required
Wanaka

- 4/5 days on, static roster – which generally does not change from week to week

- This role will become a full-time role from mid November.
Housekeeper Volunteer / Work for Accomm

- General Housekeeping duties such as beds, bathrooms, kitchen, deep cleans etc
- 13 hours per week, covers the cost of staying on-site.
- 3-days on, 4 off. Static roster (doesn’t change from week to week)
- Live-in role, with a spot in our fabulous staff apartment – private from the hostel.

- Live-in role, with accommodation costs covered from the 14 hours of work.
- Housekeeping hours between 11:00am-3:00pm, plus one kitchen clean & close and leading/assisting one Hostel activity per week (9pm-11pm)
- This role will become a full-time position as soon as a role comes available, or at the latest, by early November.
