We’re a small, modern hostel just a few minutes’ walk from the lakefront, bars, supermarkets, and the Skyline Gondola. No buses, no taxis—everything you came to Queenstown for is right outside the door.
With only 55 beds, the vibe is social without being chaotic. It’s easy to meet people in the kitchen or lounge, but you’ll still get a good night’s sleep. Most guests arrive solo and end up finding a crew within a day or two.

We are, in fact, the most central accommodation of any kind in town. While we may not have parking facilities, we do ensure that no car’s are ever needed.
You can find our Adventure hostels in Queenstown & Wānaka right in the centre of the town, and all within less than 3 minute walk from the nearest Intercity bus stop or supermarket.
Our locations also are situated away from late night bars & nightclubs meaning whichever Adventure Hostel you opt for – you’ll always enjoy a restful sleep.

The tour desk
We’re a tour booking agency here at the AQ Hostel. On your arrival, our lovely staff can help you choose and book any number of different adventure activities in and around the area you’re visiting. We have a lot of experience in booking packages for our guests and recommend that you do not book activities in advance as weather can prevent some activities from happening.
Whether you book through us or direct with the tour operator, we don’t add on any hidden charges or fees for our assistance meaning it’s always the same & best price and no need for you to spend time shopping around! We like to ensure the best experiences for our guests. It is rare that any activity cannot be booked with 24 hours’ notice and certainly 48 hours ahead – most can be booked the same day and many others the day before.
New to winter sports or travelling without your board?
Rest easy, we’ve got you covered. Every Adventure Hostel has boards, ski’s and poles, helmets and boots, along with all winter clothing available for daily hire. Our philosophy at Adventure Hostels is to look after our guests, invest in staff and provide as much as possible for free. It started as a thought in Dubrovnik, formed as an idea in Sarajevo, turned into a dream in Goa, became a concept in London, evolved into a plan in Toronto and first became a reality in Queenstown. Hey wow, what a great location!
We are right in the middle of things, Athol Street, with everything in central Queenstown less than five minutes’ walk away. Adventure Q2 is right next to the Intercity bus drop-off and collection point, Four Square supermarket is right next door, and we’re just far enough away from the town’s late-night bars and clubs that you won’t hear the party from the hostel.
If you are arriving from the airport… The local No. 1 bus stops just 50 metres from our front door. It’s a 15-minute trip and departs every 15 minutes. To find us, just cross at the zebra crossing and head toward KFC, turn left at their drive-through and take the footpath across the stream next to the Village Green. We’re just across the street and a little to the left.
If you arrive by car… Due to our central location we do not have on-site parking. You will find that there is not much parking in the town centre, but there is a pay-and-display parking lot outside the hostel. If possible, we recommend you park here, drop off any bags and check in, and then our lovely team can direct you to other (cheaper!) parking options just two to three minutes’ walk from the hostel.
