Our centrally located and modern hostel is the little sister of the award-winning Adventure Queenstown Hostel. Our team are world travellers who live and breathe hostel life. We’re all about making a homey atmosphere, with a vibrant twist for savvy visitors on a budget. Boredom will not be tolerated here at Q2! Get involved and join us as we host nightly activities and entertainment – everything from boozy pub crawls and crazy quiz nights to cosy movie nights.

Our backpackers’ hostel features beautifully furnished rooms, in which all our bunks feature the stuff travellers really want, like full-length privacy curtains, USB and charging outlets, a reading light, two pillows and towels included. Our kitchen and living rooms are cool places to hang out, and tastfully furnished. Our state of the art Kitchen even features smart induction cooktops. Best of all, no hidden or additional charges! We don’t charge for anything else except paper printing – because the environment, right?

Imogen

Imo's our ''friendly-faced'' English rose, she's also about as pale as a white rose after spending several nights in a row on the sauce. Imogen sounds posh, but she's actually from Solihull (eww) - so mind your cash and valuables! Imogen is one of those special kind of weirdos that enjoy early morning runs on Saturdays around Queenstown Gardens. She's also fond of working even when she's off-shift (Managers love this). She's now our longest serving staff member of our Queenstown teams and has worked at both AQ and Q2 - basically she got left behind by everyone else. We still love her though!

Lizzy

What can we say about Lizzy. Other than her typically 2003 email address, which is ridiculous btw, shes pretty much perfect (her words). Lizzy has limbs like Salad Fingers - long, spindly and cold. She enjoys a bit of bants, hikes and comparing fellow Team Member Ben to a mop.

Isla

Our newest cone-head, Isla, is a like for like replacement for our outgoing Scot - Carrie. Unlike Carrie, Isla has a tendancy not to apologise 92 times a day. It's probably because she has one of those fancy double-barrelled surnames. This tall, leggy scot doesn't wear a kilt however (phew), enjoys long dips in the lake and has a propensity for decaf coffee (eww). Isla is our fabulous Monday Night Pool competition host - cue more bad jokes. (Get it?)

Ben

Is it a plane? is it a rake? No it's just our 'posh, lanky giant' - Ben, as he has been affectionately compared to. Ben is an absolute softie, he minds his manners and is as cool as a cucumber. I mean, he sort of has to be with three ladies on the team. We love Ben, but he's got about as much common sense as a spoon. He's unable to use a mop (long story) and if you check in and encounter soggy sheets or damp bedding - Ben's the person to come and blame. (we mean wet with water, nothing too abstract.) Ben's our Tuesday Night Quiz Master, join him for some mind boggling questions every Tuesday at 9pm in the Q2 Kitchen.

Tom

Tom

Just another Brit on holiday (4 years and counting) Tom has spent the better part of a decade managing hostels around the world from London to Auckland. As vain as they come, and always equipped with a hairdryer. You'll usually find him moaning like a true Brit, sculling a cup of quality coffee, or breathing down the neck of a new staff member. He's Brett's number two on the head-honcho scale, and runs all three of our Hostels. The general rule of thumb is if it's broken, then Tom's probably going to be fixing it.

We are, in fact, the most central accommodation of any kind in town. While we may not have parking facilities, we do ensure that no car’s are ever needed.

You can find our Adventure hostels in Queenstown & Wānaka right in the centre of the town, and all within less than 3 minute walk from the nearest Intercity bus stop or supermarket.

Our locations also are situated away from late night bars & nightclubs meaning whichever Adventure Hostel you opt for – you’ll always enjoy a restful sleep.

The tour desk

We’re a tour booking agency here at the AQ Hostel. On your arrival, our lovely staff can help you choose and book any number of different adventure activities in and around the area you’re visiting. We have a lot of experience in booking packages for our guests and recommend that you do not book activities in advance as weather can prevent some activities from happening.

Whether you book through us or direct with the tour operator, we don’t add on any hidden charges or fees for our assistance meaning it’s always the same & best price and no need for you to spend time shopping around! We like to ensure the best experiences for our guests. It is rare that any activity cannot be booked with 24 hours’ notice and certainly 48 hours ahead – most can be booked the same day and many others the day before.

New to winter sports or travelling without your board?

Rest easy, we’ve got you covered. Every Adventure Hostel has boards, ski’s and poles, helmets and boots, along with all winter clothing available for daily hire. The Adventure Hostels story

Our philosophy at Adventure Hostels is to look after our guests, invest in staff and provide as much as possible for free. It started as a thought in Dubrovnik, formed as an idea in Sarajevo, turned into a dream in Goa, became a concept in London, evolved into a plan in Toronto and first became a reality in Queenstown. where we are

Hey wow, what a great location!

We are right in the middle of things, Athol Street, with everything in central Queenstown less than five minutes’ walk away. Adventure Q2 is right next to the Intercity bus drop-off and collection point, Four Square supermarket is right next door, and we’re just far enough away from the town’s late-night bars and clubs that you won’t hear the party from the hostel.

If you are arriving from the airport… The local No. 1 bus stops just 50 metres from our front door. It’s a 15-minute trip and departs every 15 minutes. To find us, just cross at the zebra crossing and head toward KFC, turn left at their drive-through and take the footpath across the stream next to the Village Green. We’re just across the street and a little to the left.

If you arrive by car… Due to our central location we do not have on-site parking. You will find that there is not much parking in the town centre, but there is a pay-and-display parking lot outside the hostel. If possible, we recommend you park here, drop off any bags and check in, and then our lovely team can direct you to other (cheaper!) parking options just two to three minutes’ walk from the hostel.
