Our boutique backpackers’ accommodation really is owned and run by intrepid travellers. New, modern design, with a relaxed atmosphere – we provide a new level of comfort in a hostel. With a high quality of hostel furnishing, we give a lot more at little cost. The team have journeyed the world and understand what travellers on a budget are looking for.
Enjoy an afternoon drink in the sun on the balconies and watch the hustle and bustle of busy Camp Street, and in the evening you can relax in peace and quiet as there are no loud late-night venues in earshot. We are a medium-sized hostel with a maximum capacity of around 50 people, the perfect number for keeping our homely feel, while enjoying a fun and vibrant atmosphere.

We are, in fact, the most central accommodation of any kind in town. While we may not have parking facilities, we do ensure that no car’s are ever needed.
You can find our Adventure hostels in Queenstown & Wānaka right in the centre of the town, and all within less than 3 minute walk from the nearest Intercity bus stop or supermarket.
Our locations also are situated away from late night bars & nightclubs meaning whichever Adventure Hostel you opt for – you’ll always enjoy a restful sleep.
The tour desk
We’re a tour booking agency here at the AQ Hostel. On your arrival, our lovely staff can help you choose and book any number of different adventure activities in and around the area you’re visiting. We have a lot of experience in booking packages for our guests and recommend that you do not book activities in advance as weather can prevent some activities from happening.
Whether you book through us or direct with the tour operator, we don’t add on any hidden charges or fees for our assistance meaning it’s always the same & best price and no need for you to spend time shopping around! We like to ensure the best experiences for our guests. It is rare that any activity cannot be booked with 24 hours’ notice and certainly 48 hours ahead – most can be booked the same day and many others the day before.
New to winter sports or travelling without your board?
Rest easy, we’ve got you covered. Every Adventure Hostel has boards, ski’s and poles, helmets and boots, along with all winter clothing available for daily hire. Our philosophy at Adventure Hostels is to look after our guests, invest in staff and provide as much as possible for free. It started as a thought in Dubrovnik, formed as an idea in Sarajevo, turned into a dream in Goa, became a concept in London, evolved into a plan in Toronto and first became a reality in Queenstown. central Queenstown location
We are, in fact, the most central accommodation of any kind in town. Located in the heart of Camp Street, you’re a one-minute walk to everything: Lake Wakatipu, restaurants, bars, banks, shops, parks, bus stops, post office, Queenstown Mall, a small supermarket and more.
If you are arriving from the airport… Take the No. 1 bus from right outside the terminal to the O’Connell’s Shopping Centre stop on Camp Street. From there, walk 30 metres in the same direction the bus is facing and you are at our front door. The bus departs every 15 minutes, takes 15 minutes and costs just $10.
If you arrive by car… Due to our central location we do not have on-site parking. You will find that there is not much parking in the town centre, but there is a 10-minute parking bay outside the hostel. If possible, we recommend you park here, drop off any bags and check in, and then our lovely team can direct you to a couple of free parking options just two to three minutes’ walk from the hostel.
If you arrive by bus… The Intercity bus stops on Athol Street, just 50 metres from our front door. Walk down the alley towards Fat Badgers Pizza then cross at the zebra crossing and turn right. Our hostel is 30 metres ahead on the left side.
