Recently opened in October 2025, Adventure Taupo is Adventure Hostel’s first North Island property!
We offer the same homey atmosphere, vibrant and engaging social vibes as well all the little touches and the attention to the details that gave Adventure Hostels’ multi-award winning status across New Zealand. We’ve brought this tired property back from retirement, and breathed new life into the bones of the old Tiki Lodge – one of Taupo’s formerly best rated hostels.
Adventure Taupo Hostel features beautifully furnished rooms, a brand new kitchen and lounge area, and all the best amenities – the stuff travellers really want. Our friendly staff is made up of fellow world travellers who are always willing to help out in any way possible. These lovely people are also in charge of our nightly hostel-run activities! Everything from pub crawls, to quiz nights, movie nights and more – we provide ample opportunities for our guests to join in, make new friends and leave with lasting memories.

So, you think you’ve got what it takes to create the kind of memorable experiences our guests will cherish for life? Great! While we usually invite people who are currently staying with us as guests to join our dynamic team, a well-written email with a quality CV attached has been known to catch our attention. We generally prefer our teams to stay with us for a full summer or winter season, which lasts around six months. Our small but dedicated team work full-time hours, with no overnight shifts required. All team members stay on-site at the hostel, in private staff accommodation.

We are here...
Taupo’s best rated backpackers. Just a minute’s walk from the town centre but far enough away that you’ll have a sound nights sleep – no passing traffic or late night bars to keep you up!
If you arrive by car… We have free parking available on the ground floor, for up to 20 cars. This is available on a first-come first-served basis and does have height restrictions for taller cars or campers. If our parking spaces are full, there is ample street-side parking right outside of the hostel on Tuwharetoa Street.
If you arrive by bus… The Intercity bus stops on Tongariro Street, outside the Great Lake Centre, we are just two streets away or about 800metres / 6-10 minute walk away.
