Position: Team Member Part-time
New Zealand’s best-rated hostel group are on the hunt for vibrant, engaging & focused individual to help us on a part-time basis. Joining our team at Adventure Q2 Hostel, in central Queenstown – Q2 is consistently rated in the top 3 best hostels in New Zealand.
This part-time role focuses primarily on Housekeeping-related responsibilities, where you’ll be assisting our small team of 3 full-time Team Members whom also live on-site. This role is live-in only, and great quality accommodation in the hostel is covered by the 14 hours of work each week.
The position is 14 hours per week, and this is typically split between a 3-day working week.
A typical work week with Adventure Hostels will look a little like this; Please note that this is an example only and may not consistute your actual working days: Monday – Wednesday (10am – 2pm) + 1 Evening activity & 1 kitchen clean (9-11pm)
Your home
As a live-in Team Member, you’ll be staying in our fantastic 8-bed staff room. Our beds are all pod-style bunks, bespoke hand-built and solid as a rock, with ultra comfortable mattress, privacy curtains, reading lights and charging outlets right in the bunk. The room also has an ensuite bathroom. Wifi and laundry are included, as well as free use of Ski equipment, sports equipment, bikes (summer only) and much more. You’ll be sharing this room with our 3 full-time Team Members, Ski-tech and 3 long-stay guests. It’s a great community and really good way to hit the ground running with some new travel buddies, as soon as you arrive in Queenstown.

The nitty gritty
- The role encompasses all hostel housekeeping-centric tasks.
- You’ll need to provide a great customer experience for all of our guests when on-shift. Be attentive, social, and generally add positive enthusiasm to the overall atmosphere when not engaged with other duties.
- Performing of housekeeping duties, which will include:
– Changing of beds on check-out
– Deep cleans of specific areas of the hostel
– Daily kitchen & bathroom cleans
– Vacuum and mopping of communal spaces
– Washing of all linens using provided washing machines and dryers - You’ll run one hour-long event/activity for our guests, between 9-10pm per week, and then clean & close the Guest kitchen between 10-11pm
- You’ll be asked to complete any additional tasks given to you by your line Manager, these additional tasks will likely include light maintenance tasks such as painting, deep cleans, providing inventories.
- Always try to maintain professional attitude when inside the Hostel, urging Guests to follow the rules and to not encourage any behaviours deemed to be unwanted within the hostel. This also means reporting any discovered illicit activities or behaviours of Guests or Staff to Management immediately. Adventure Hostels do not condone or tolerate the use or storage of drugs on-site.
